Kerala CPM leader VS Achuthanandan comes under fire for 'anti-party' statements
KOCHI: The recent statements of Kerala opposition leader VS Achuthanandan against the party leadership has come in for sharp criticism from the CPM state secretariat. A resolution against Achuthanandan adopted by the party state secretariat on Thursday says that his statements were against the interest of the party. The matters that V S Achuthanandan raised against the leadership were wrong and baseless, CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said in a press conference. At the root of his statement is factionalism, he said.

Balakrishnan explained that Pinarayi Vijayan was not responsible for the crossover of RSP and JD(U) to United Democratic Front (UDF), as alleged by Achuthanandan. In CPM, the party secretary's work is based on the collective decision taken by its members. Secretary implements these decisions made collectively, he said.
