NEW DELHI: The Kerala budget presented on Friday earmarked Rs 7.5 crore of financial support to Kochi-Muziris Biennale, the international exhibition of contemporary art that is scheduled to have its third edition in December this year.

The first and second editions of the Biennale received a total of Rs 12 crore, the Kochi Biennale Foundation said in a news release. The foundation’s secretary, Riyas Komu, said India lacked a comprehensive national policy on the promotion of art and culture and hoped that the state’s decision on extending financial support would have an impact on the national level.
