THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala assembly on Thursday greeted President Pratibha Patil on her assuming the highest office.
A resolution congratulating Patil and greeting her on the occasion was read out by the Speaker K Radhakrishnan in the House.
Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said Patil's victory was the win for secular forces in the country. It was a matter of pride that not a single vote from Kerala, West Bengal and Tripura went to the candidate nominated by communal forces, he said.
Opposition leader Oommen Chandy said that Patil's victory was a win for the country's democratic and secular principles.
