Kerala Assembly election results: CPI(M)-led LDF leading in 18 seats

LDF candidates leading include Ramachandran Kadanapally in Kannur, A M Shamseer (Thalassery), James Mathew (Thalaiparambu) and Mathew T Thomas of JDS in Pathnamthitta.

Kerala Assembly election results: CPI(M)-led LDF leading in 18 seats
THIRUVANATHAPURAM: CPI-M headed LDF in Kerala is leading in 81 of the 140 Assembly constituencies while ruling Congress-led UDF is ahead in 47, according to early trends after the first round of counting.

BJP-NDA, which had fielded candidates in all constituencies, is ahead in only one constituency and is trailing in all others.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy is leading by 2849 votes in Puthupally while opposition leader and CPI-M veteran V S Achuthanandan by 4056 votes in Malampuzha.

UDF ministers P K Kunhalikutty, Manjalamkuzhi Ali, A P Anil Kumar and Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan are also leading in their constituencies.

The ministers trailing are K Babu, Anoop Jacob and K P Mohan.

Former Government chief whip, P C George, who was not part of both the fronts, is ahead of his rival in Poonjar.

Senior BJP leader, O Rajagopal (Nemom) is leading by over 2085 votes and Ravisha Thanthri Kuntar in Kasaragod.

BJP state President, Kummanam Rajasekharan, (Vattiyoorkavu), V Muraleedharan (Kazhakootam) and K Surendran (Manjeshwaram) are all trailing.
