Kelkar demands CBSE schools recite national anthem in assembly

Member of Legislative Council (MLC) from Konkan Region Graduates Constituency, Sanjay Kelkar, today objected on CBSE and ICSE schools for not reciting the National Anthem and Vandemataram during school assembly.

THANE: Member of Legislative Council (MLC) from Konkan Region Graduates Constituency, Sanjay Kelkar, today objected on CBSE and ICSE schools for not reciting the National Anthem and Vandemataram during school assembly.

Addressing a news conference here to give details of the issues raised by him in the recent legislature session, he said he had taken up the issue with the state government.

Kelkar said the state government had no control whatsoever over these schools except giving them permission.

The MLC demanded the state government include National Anthem and National Song in the syllabus of these schools.

The MLC said he had also raised the issue of water supply to the cities of Thane and surrounding areas and demanded that Thane and Raigadh be given the benefits on the lines of Mumbai.

Kelkar said the soil erosion at the coastline of Thane, Ratnagiri, Raigadh and Sindhudurgh needs to be checked in a planned manner.

The telecast of films and advertisements leading youths to crime, need to be banned forthwith by the state government with the help of Centre, he demanded.

He said an Aqua University will be set up in Konkan and in addition to this an MBA agriculture will be started in the Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth.
