KCR diverting funds from centre: BJP president JP Nadda

BJP president JP Nadda said on Saturday that Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao was diverting the Centre's funds and running schemes under the state government's name. Blaming Telangana for poor utilisation of funds under the Jal Shakti Abhiyan, Nadda said it was the Centre that immediately released Rs 280 crore to help the state mitigate the recent floods.

He claimed that Rao was not celebrating Telangana liberation day because of the pressure from Majlis (AIMIM) and that the BJP will organise state-wide official celebrations to commemorate the day when it comes to power in the state.

Nadda was speaking in Warangal at a public rally marking the end of Telangana party president Bandi Sanjaya's third phase of praja sangrama yatra (march). His rally wasn't given permission by the state government but after the intervention of the Telangana High Court, the party was given permission to resume the march. Parts of the state, specifically Hyderabad, was under section 144 after it witnessed large-scale protests over comments against Prophet Mohammed by suspended BJP MLA T Raja.


"The state was formed after a lot of struggle and we were the first party to support the Kakinada resolution. But over the last few years, KCR's family has insulted the people and their sentiments," Nadda said, alleging that the Kaleshwaram project, the CM's pet lift irrigation project, has become synonymous with corruption and has turned into "an ATM machine" for the CM.
