New Delhi: A week after quitting the JDU, veteran leader KC Tyagi on Sunday joined the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) at a party function in Delhi. Tyagi was welcomed into the party by RLD president and Union minister Jayant Chaudhary. Several other RLD leaders were also present on the occasion.

"We extend a warm welcome and heartfelt congratulations to senior and experienced leader KC Tyagi ji to the Rashtriya Lok Dal family. With his joining, RLD will become even stronger, and our commitment to public service will gain new energy and momentum," Chaudhary said at the joining function.

"I do not find any political or ideological difference between JDU and RLD. Both parties are an extension of the socialist ideology of Chaudhary Charan Singh's Lok Dal. West UP has been part of my earlier political journey. With RLD, I will be able to contribute more to my politics of farmer welfare and also to the NDA than I was doing in Bihar," Tyagi told ET.

Uttar Pradesh will go to assembly elections in 2027, and Tyagi will now play an active role in the party's strategy for the upcoming polls.
