A six-member Gujjar delegation from the state was in Kota yesterday to take part in a matrimonial introduction session for members of the community.
Ashafaque Rahaman Poswal, executive member of ST Morcha of BJP in Jammu and Kashmir, said the majority of Gujjar community dwell in hilltop area and constantly stay under the threat of terror and militancy.
Separatists and Hurriyat leaders never allow development work for Gujjars in Kashmir to continue to go on, Poswal alleged, claiming that a large number of Kashmiri Gujjar girls have to remain unwed due to their terror.
Poswal called upon the Gujjars of the rest of the country to embrace them and invited them to come to Jammu and Kashmir for the organisation of such matrimonial introduction functions.
"Our girls in the Valley are not safe and secure", Poswal said, and sought support for the creation of terror-free and secure environment in J&K.
Poswal appreciated late Congress leaders from Rajasthan Balram Jhakad and Rajesh Pilot for their constant support to Gujjars in J&K but criticised Rajasthan State Congress president Sachin Pilot, saying that he has shown no sensitivity towards the community.
