Kashmir issue will be raised globally: Pak
Pakistan will continue to raise the Kashmir issue in international fora, Pakistan foreign minister Khurshid Kasuri has said.

NEW DELHI: Pakistan will continue to raise the Kashmir issue in international fora, Pakistan foreign minister Khurshid Kasuri has said.
Mr Kasuri, according to reports from Pakistan, said that Pakistan is not going to abandon its policy of raising the Kashmir issue internationally.
This comes after India put off foreign secretary-level talks with Pakistan after the Mumbai blasts. Adverse public opinion against Pakistan and Pakistan’s refusal to act against cross border terrorism had led to the postponement of the talks that had been scheduled for July.
However, Pakistan has not had much success in the past at bringing up the Kashmir issue on the international arena. Mr Kasuri said that Pakistan would bring up the issue of Kashmir and reiterate its willingness to continue with the peace process at such foras to pressurise India to continue with the peace talks.
India had recently asked Pakistan to arrest and hand over underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and self-styled chief of Hizbul Mujahideen, Syed Salahuddin, who are both in Pakistan, to enable the peace process to move forward. India had said that handing them over would give credibility to Pakistan’s assertion of fighting terrorism along with India.

Meanwhile, Pakistani and Indian officials will be meeting soon at the Saarc foreign ministers’ meet in Dhaka on July 31. And the issue of continuing the peace talks is likely to come up at the meeting. It will be the first instance of Pakistani and Indian officials meeting after the Mumbai bomb blasts took place.
