Kashi's 9-year transformation proves doubters wrong: PM Modi

Laying the foundation stone of a passenger ropeway in Varanasi, PM Narendra Modi said Kashi's transformation in the last nine years has proved naysayers, who doubted its ability to change, wrong.

In Varanasi, his Lok Sabha constituency for the first time in 2023, PM also addressed the 'One World TB Summit' where he said "India's efforts had become a new model for war against TB".

Laying the foundation stone of the ropeway between Varanasi Cantt railway station and Godowlia- the area which houses the Kashi Vishwanath temple, Modi hailed the transformation the city has seen to emerge as an amalgamation of the ancient and the contemporary, defying what naysayers believed about its inability to change. "Talks of Kashi's development are reaching across the country and abroad. Nine years ago, when the people of Kashi had resolved to transform their city, many people had doubts. They thought Varanasi would see no change but people of Kashi have, through their hard work, proved every doubt wrong," Modi said.


"The ropeway being made here will increase convenience as well as the attraction of the city . After the ropeway, distance between Varanasi Cantt station and Kashi Vishwanath will be reduced to a few minutes. Traffic jam issues will be reduced. Lot of people come to Varanasi from other states for work and they want to go around but, discouraged by traffic, they end up spending their remaining time at the station itself. This ropeway will also benefit such people a lot," he said.
