Kasab death sentence: HC to announce verdict on Feb 7
A division bench of Justice Ranjana Desai and Justice Ranjit More of the Bombay HC reserved its order on confirming or rejecting Ajmal Amir Kasab’s death sentence for February 7.
The confirmation hearing in the 26/11 terror attack case involving the Pakistani gunman was completed in a record time of three months.
Kasab, who had boycotted proceedings after the HC turned down his request to be brought to the court, failed to make an appearance on the last day. He was provided the facility of viewing the court proceedings through a video conference link at his high security Arthur Road prison cell. While he attended the hearing initially, after a couple of days he turned violent , spitting at the camera and demanding that he be sent to the United States.
