Karuna’s son Murali mulls return to Cong
A few years ago when K Karunakaran aggressively challenged the Congress high command and his son K Muraleedharan dared refer to senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel as “Aluminium Patel”, Congress in Kerala presented a picture of disarray.
Chaos is expected to revisit the party with Mr Muraleedharan voicing his desire to return to the Congress fold, giving up the state presidentship of NCP, following his father who is already back in the party after a brief detour to the Democratic Indira Congress (K).
After declaring that he had recommended dissolution of the NCPs state committee to the partys national president Sharad Pawar, and that he was himself desirous of stepping down from the post of state president, Muraleedharan announced on Friday that he was looking ahead to join Congress.
Over the last two days I have mentally prepared for a return to Congress. Party members have left and returned in the past and Congress has shown magnanimity to accept those who have returned after correcting their mistakes. I dont think I have done any major mistakes since leaving the party.
