'Karunanidhi to be blamed if sethu project did not take off'

Actor-politician Vijayakant-led DMDK today said Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi was to be blamed if the controversial Sethusamudram Project did not take off.

NEW DELHI: Actor-politician Vijayakant-led DMDK today said Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi was to be blamed if the controversial Sethusamudram Project did not take off.

"If at all Sethusamudram project does not take off, the person to be blamed is Karunanidhi. The credit goes to him. Who asked him to hurt the sentiments of the people by criticising Lord Ram," Vijayakant told reporters here today.

He also urged the Centre to take steps to do a research on the disputed structure, which is considered as 'sacred' by Hindus.

Asked whether he believed that BJP was a communal party, he shot back, "these questions should be asked to Karunanidhi. He can answer you very well because he has shared power with the BJP for almost five years."

"He can give a better answer. He has been with BJP, now he is with the Congress and....," he said.

Stating that he has formulated a solution to solve the Mullaperiyar issue with Kerala, Vijayakant said "all we need is to talk."

"Dialogue is the only solution to all problems. I have some solutions to solve the vexed issue, which I will disclose only when I come to power," he said.
