Karunanidhi takes a dig at Jaya for demanding PM's resignation
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Saturday lashed out at AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa for demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, saying she was doing it to please the Left.
Jayalalithaa, who had been demanding resignation of DMK ministers in Tamil Nadu, "has now gone a step further and demanded the Prime Minister's resignation," he wrote in the DMK's mouthpiece 'Murasoli', adding "it has become her practice to demand resignation of all those in power.
"Is the demand to attract the Left parties for an alliance with her party. Is the BJP, with which she attempted to have an alliance, against the nuclear deal," he asked.
In a statement on Friday, Jayalalithaa, a strong critic of the Indo-US nuclear deal, had demanded Singh's resignation alleging that he had hidden the 'fact' that the country could not undertake a nuclear test if the deal is operationalised.
In his article, Karunanidhi also welcomed the direction of the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court allowing women to perform poojas in temples.
