Karunanidhi critical and unstable, says hospital medical bulletin

CHENNAI: DMK supremo and 94-year old ex chief minister M Karunanidhi’s medical condition was deemed “extremely critical and unstable” in the latest medical bulletin by the Kauvery Hospial where the leader has been admitted for the last eleven days.

In the bulletin released on Tuesday evening at 4:30, Kauvery Hospial said there had been a “significant decline in the clinical condition of Kalaignar Dr M Karunanidhi over the last few hours. Despite maximum medical support, his vital organ functions continue to deteriorate. His condition is extremely critical and unstable.”

Even before the medical update was announced an order to increase police protection across the state was directed by the Tamil Nadu DGP, T K Rajendran, in order to maintain law and order.

A swelling crowd of DMK cadre had been gathering outside the Kauvery hospital since the early Tuesday morning. Even as chants of “long live Kalaignar” filled the air, following the update, more worried DMK party members made their way to the hospital.
