DMK President M Karunanidhi today condoled the death of noted industrialist and philanthropist M A M Ramaswamy.

CHENNAI: DMK President M Karunanidhi today condoled the death of noted industrialist and philanthropist M A M Ramaswamy.

" MM Ramaswamy had a special love for me and my family. He was one of the veteran industrialists from south India. I express regret over his demise," he said in a statement.

"M A M as he was fondly called and his ancestors had worked hard for the benefit of Justice Party. He has given employment to thousands of people through his business establishments that had operations in cement, hospitality and education sectors," he said.

"I express my deep sympathy to his family and employees," he said.

Union Minister and senior BJP leader Pon Radhakrishnan also expressed his deep condolences to the family.

The founder of the Rs 10,000 crore business empire Chettinad Group, Ramaswamy, died yesterday at the age of 84 following brief illness.
