Karuna meets PM, says DMK-Cong ties strong

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Monday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and said the ties between the DMK and Congress were "strong".

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Monday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and said the ties between the DMK and Congress were "strong".

"It is as strong as the ties between you (media) and me," he told reporters after meeting Singh for over 30 minutes at the Raj Bhavan here.

Asked whether the 2G spectrum scam had affected the ties, he replied in the negative.

This is the first meeting between the two leaders after A Raja, a DMK representative in the UPA cabinet, resigned as telecom minister in the wake of the scam.

This comes a day after Karunanidhi raised speculations by skipping a meeting with the Prime Minister on Sunday.
