BJP's assumption of office brought the curtain down on the 20-day long political drama that saw the 14-month old JD(S)-Congress regime falling in a floor test.
Karnataka’s new Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Friday announced a cash incentive of Rs 2,000 each in two installments to the farmers covered under the PM Kisan Samman scheme, and waiver of loans availed by weavers.

The State’s first Cabinet, chaired by him, took these decisions soon after Yediyurappa, 76, took over as the CM at an event in Raj Bhavan in the evening. The BJP's assumption of office brought the curtain down on the 20-day long political drama that saw the 14-month old JD(S)-Congress regime falling in a floor test.

Governor VR Vala administered the oath of office in a well-attended ceremony. No other BJP members took oath.

The CM will move a trust vote in the Assembly on Monday, and on the same day, will table the Appropriation Bill -- a critical necessity to enable the government to draw funds from August 1. The Cabinet formation will follow the floor test.
