Karnataka’s medical education minister says central test can curb Vyapam-like scams
BENGALURU: Karnataka’s medical education minister Sharan Prakash Patil had submitted a memorandum to PM Narendra Modi in February, suggesting a national exam model that would check a scam similar to Madhya Pradesh’s Vyapam.

Patil, a protege of Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, has an MBBS degree and is personally aware of how the exam system works. "The Union health ministry can put an end to all such rackets, if it wants to. I have spoken about it to health minister JP Nadda and personally submitted a memorandum to the PM, when I shared a stage with him at Nimhans in February," Patil, one of the candidates being considered by the Congress for the post of the party state chief, told ET.

The minister said all that was needed was to put a three-point system in place. "Parliament can pass a national law on medical education, set a model for individual states to follow and ensure that everything is overboard," he contended.
