The state government was transferring funds every month to women based on the philosophy of universal basic income. When purchasing power goes up in people, it would spark economic activities and lead to an increase in per capita income. This would result in a higher GDP for the state and lead to overall development of the state, he told the media in Kalaburagi.
Under the Gruha Lakshmi programmes, the state government transfers Rs 2000 per woman head of a family every month.
He slammed the BJP for its criticism of the guarantee schemes, and sought to know if any government in the past gave Rs 2000 to 1.13 crore people. In fact, the previous BJP regime cut the monthly PDS rice quota from 7 kg to 5 kg. “Are our guarantee programmes not development work,” the CM asked.
