Karnataka sees 3 more Covid deaths, toll hits 47

A 69-year-old woman from Yadagiri became the 45th Covid-19 fatality in Karnataka. She had returned from Maharashtra and was brought dead to the hospital a week ago.

The state government has revised its discharge guidelines on the lines of the ones issued by the Centre a few weeks ago.
Karnataka reported three deaths due to Covid-19 and 135 positive cases on Wednesday, taking the state’s Covid fatality to 47 and total number of infections to 2,418.

A 69-year-old woman from Yadagiri became the 45th Covid-19 fatality in Karnataka. She had returned from Maharashtra and was brought dead to the hospital a week ago. Her samples were collected and she was confirmed of infection on Wednesday. Another deceased is a 49-year-old man from Bidar who was admitted to hospital after he complained of respiratory illness, cold and fever.

The forty seventh deceased person is an 82-year-old man from Vijayapura who too was taken to the hospital as he suffered from fever, cough, breathlessness and chest pain, education minister S Suresh Kumar who is also the Covid-19 spokesperson said.


Most cases reported on Wednesday are from Kalaburgi (28), followed by 16 cases in Yadagiri, 15 in Hassan and 13 in Bidar.

Meanwhile, the state government has revised its discharge guidelines on the lines of the ones issued by the Centre a few weeks ago.

According to the revised guidelines, Covid-19 patients who fulfil a list of criteria. A patient can be discharged from the hospital after 10 days if the person exhibits no symptoms for three consecutive days and if the RT-PCR test is negative at the time of discharge. Earlier norms prescribe 14 days of hospitalisation.
