Bengaluru: Karnataka reported five new cases of Covid-19 on Saturday, taking the count to 20. Today was the highest confirmed cases reported in a single after the state reporter its first case on March 9.
Of the five new cases, four had a travel history to Covid affected countries, while one person was a helper at the house of one of the patient's being treated in Bengaluru.
Among the newly confirmed cases, three are from Bengaluru and one each from Chikkaballapura and Mysuru. The health officials said that contact tracing of all positive cases are in progress.
Amid the rising number if cases, the state government has announced a slew of measures to prevent the spread of the virus. Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Friday issued an order restricting restaurants from serving food in the premises. The government has allowed only take-away orders.
The CM has also ordered closure of pubs and bars.
