BANGALORE: In the wake of increased opposition from the farming community on land acquisitions, the Karnataka government is contemplating to amend the Land Revenue Act to facilitate direct purchase of property by industrialists.
The government intends to amend Section 79 A and B of the act for this purpose, state Minister for Large and Medium Industries Katta Subramanya Naidu told reporters here on Tuesday.
Provisions would be made to enable farmers to become partners in the land development and help them sell their land at ruling market prices, he said.
He said the government was willing to extend capital subsidy to wind power mill units if they supplied power to the state at cheaper rates.
