Bengaluru: Senior Karnataka minister Ramalinga Reddy has withdrawn his resignation as minister, AICC general secretary RS Surjewala announced on Saturday.

Reddy is very important to the Congress party. His experience is invaluable to the party. "We spoke to him. There had been some misunderstanding. He has withdrawn his resignation," Surjewala told the media after discussing with him.

He will continue to serve as a loyal soldier of the party and as a minister. In fact, the BJP is in shock because they thought they could disrupt the smooth transfer of power, Surjewala added.

The AICC is believed to have offered an additional portfolio to Reddy to buy peace with him.

Reddy resigned on Friday without taking charge of the water resources portfolio that he was allotted, plunging the two-day old DK Shivakumar regime into a crisis.

The BTM layout MLA had walked out of the cabinet, upset over the denial of the Greater Bengaluru Development portfolio that he said he was promised.
