Karnataka minister Prakash Hukkeri resigns after election to Lok Sabha

Governor H R Bhardwaj today accepted the resignation of Hukkeri with immediate effect on the advice of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, a Raj Bhavan communique said.

BANGALORE: Karnataka Sugar Minister Prakash Hukkeri has resigned following his election to Lok Sabha from Chikkodi constituency.

Governor H R Bhardwaj today accepted the resignation of Hukkeri with immediate effect on the advice of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, a Raj Bhavan communique said.

The department of Small Scale Industries which was also held by Hukkeri has now been retained by Siddaramaiah, while Cooperation Minister H S Mahadeva Prasad gets the Sugar portfolio.

Hukkeri had resigned as MLA from Chikodi Assembly constituency on May 30, the last day for doing so.
