Karnataka Lok Sabha bypolls: Voting for Mandya and Bangalore rural begins
BANGALORE: The polling for bypolls to the Lok Sabha from Mandya and Bangalore rural constituencies, began on Wednesday at 8am.

The high-decibel campaign for the Bangalore Rural and Mandya Lok Sabha bypolls ended on Monday. Both constituencies go to the polls on Wednesday and the result is on Saturday.

The vacancies were caused following the resignations of former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy and N Cheluvarayaswamy after they got elected to the assembly.

Anitha Kumaraswamy, wife of Kumaraswamy, takes on DK Suresh, brother of Congress MLA DK Shiva Kumar, in Bangalore Rural while cine star Ramya of the Congress is pitted against C S Puttaraju of JD(S) in Mandya.

The battle has become prestigious following the sparring between chief minister Siddaramaiah and former PM HD Deve Gowda during the campaign. With both constituencies being part of the JD(S) bastion, the Congress is pulling out all stops to wrest the two seats.
