BANGALORE In a development related to the disproportionate assets case registered against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, the Karnataka High Court imposed a cost of Rs 1 lakh on Lex Property Development while dismissing the Chennaibased company’s petition seeking to release its seized properties. The property development firm is one of the many that had allegedly received investments from Jayalalithaa, her aide VK Sasikala, and others.

It approached the high court after the special judge trying the disproportionate assets case dismissed its petition seeking release of the properties attached by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption. The trial court last month also imposed a cost of Rs 10,000 on Lex Property. On Tuesday, Justice SN Sathyanarayana of the high court raised it 10-fold.
