Karnataka HC orders notice on Lokayukta clean chit to CM Siddaramaiah, others in MUDA case

The Karnataka High Court on Thursday ordered notices to the Lokayukta police, the Enforcement Directorate (ED), and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, among others, on a petition challenging the closure of the case related to alleged unlawful allotment of plots in Mysuru linked to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, his wife, and two others.

Justice S Sunil Dutt Yadav was hearing a plea filed by activist Snehamayi Krishna, which contested a Bengaluru special court’s decision to accept a closure report submitted by the Lokayukta Police in January this year. The special court’s order provided relief to Siddaramaiah and the other accused in a case that drew widespread attention in 2024.

The special court, designated to hear cases involving elected representatives, had accepted the ‘B report’ filed by the Lokayukta Police, citing lack of evidence to substantiate the allegations.


The Lokayukta Police in Mysuru had registered an FIR in September 2024 against Siddaramaiah, naming him as the first accused, along with his wife Parvathy and brother-in-law Mallikarjuna Swamy, in connection with the allotment of 14 housing plots to his wife by Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA).

The FIR followed directions from a Bengaluru court acting on a complaint by Krishna. Siddaramaiah appeared before the Lokayukta Police in Mysuru in November 2024 and responded to queries.

The CM’s wife later returned the plots allotted in Vijayanagar III and IV stages in Mysuru, which had been granted in exchange for 3.16 acres of land in Kesare village.

Meanwhile, the ED, which is probing the alleged незакон allotment of MUDA plots, has attached assets worth about Rs 400 crore so far.
