DK Shivakumar set to take oath as Karnataka CM on June 3.
The decks have been cleared for Karnataka Congress chief DK Shivakumar to become the state's next Chief Minister after Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot invited him to form the government.

The swearing-in ceremony will be held on June 3 at the Glass House in Lok Bhavan, Bengaluru, and is expected to take place between 4 pm and 5 pm.

Shivakumar's elevation comes after he was unanimously elected leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) at a meeting held in Bengaluru on Saturday, formally ending days of speculation over the party's leadership choice following its Assembly election victory.

Shivakumar elected CLP leader unanimously

Earlier on Saturday, Congress general secretary K. C. Venugopal told reporters that Shivakumar had been unanimously elected leader of the Congress Legislature Party following a proposal by the party high command.

According to Venugopal, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah proposed Shivakumar's name, while G. Parameshwara seconded it. The proposal was unanimously approved by the legislature party.
Congress state working president and Rajya Sabha MP G. C. Chandrashekhar had said the oath-taking ceremony would take place at the Glass House in Lok Bhavan.

He said there had initially been discussions about organising the event at Raj Bhavan before the party decided on Lok Bhavan as the venue.

Chandrashekhar said the Congress had considered arranging between 10,000 and 15,000 buses to transport supporters from across Karnataka to Bengaluru. However, the proposal was dropped because of the ongoing fuel crisis and concerns about traffic congestion in the city.

He said the party leadership wanted the ceremony to remain simple and dignified rather than being turned into a large public spectacle.

Appealing to party workers and supporters, Chandrashekhar urged them to avoid crowding the venue and to cooperate with authorities to ensure smooth traffic movement and minimise inconvenience to the public.

With the Governor's invitation and his unanimous election as CLP leader, Shivakumar is now set to take oath as Karnataka's next Chief Minister on June 3.
