Karnataka engineer Sirajuddin was planning to travel to Libya to join Islamic State
The NIA said Sirajuddin joined IOC in May 2015 and was planning to travel to Libya from where he had plans to join fighters of Islamic State.

The agency said Sirajuddin joined IOC in May 2015 and was planning to travel to Libya from where he had plans to join fighters of Islamic State. He also wanted to take his wife and two kids along with him to war-torn Syria. According to NIA, Sirajuddin will be charged under sections of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) after a nod from the union home ministry. The agency identified his handler as ‘Abu Munafil’ who according to them was guiding him for his travel to Libya. NIA said Sirajuddin was part of a group where he along with others members discussed activities of ISIS.
This chat group was being run by a woman from Philippines who identified herself as ‘Karen Ayesa al Muslima’. NIA has recorded statement of five other Indians who were part of this group. They have been cited as witness. According to NIA, another Kenyan woman Ameena who was part of the group had deep influence on Sirajuddin and he wanted to marry her. She had claimed that she is from Mauritius and presently running a business in Abu Dhabi.
