On April 21, Shah will hold a roadshow in Davanagere followed by a meeting with party leaders. On April 22, another roadshow will take place at Devanahalli in Tumkur district. Both the regions are Lingayat dominated. On the third day, Shah will hold meetings with the BJP election committees of the state.
Shah had visited Karnataka on a two-day trip on March 25.
Sources told ET that BJP is working on the campaign details of key leaders, including PM Modi, defence minister Rajnath Singh, BJP president JP Nadda and other senior leaders and it will be finalised by Thursday. JP Nadda is currently on a two-day visit to the state starting Tuesday. Leadership visits are handled by BJP general secretary Tarun Chug after assessing the demand of state unit leaders.
The last date for withdrawal of nomination of candidates is April 24 and BJP leaders told ET that most of the leaders will begin campaigning from April 25.
A group of leaders from different states have been deployed in the Lok Sabha constituencies to manage the campaign. A minimum of two outside leaders have been deployed in each Lok Sabha constituency. These leaders have already reached Karnataka and have started the primary work of assessing the demand for having national leaders in the campaign of the regions assigned to them. The composite list will reach Delhi and after discussion with the top leadership, the programmes will be finalised.
