Karnataka: EC to hold polls for 3 MLC seats on June 30

​The vacancies were caused by the resignations of then BJP members Baburao Chinchansur, R Shankar and Lakshman Savadi.

The Election Commission on Tuesday notified election to the three vacant Legislative Council seats. The polls, if necessary, will be held on June 30, and nominations for the election will open on June 13.

The vacancies were caused by the resignations of then BJP members Baburao Chinchansur, R Shankar and Lakshman Savadi.

After being denied tickets, while R Shankar contested from Ranebennur on a Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) ticket and lost while Chinchansoor contested unsuccessfully as Congress candidate from Gurmitkal. Only Savadi won as Congress MLA from Athani in Belagavi district.
