Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Monday said he had information that a plot was being hatched in Singapore to topple the state's Congress regime, setting off a minor tremor in the political circles.

Shivakumar, who also heads the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), told media in Bengaluru that he had come to know about the conspiracy being hatched against the government on foreign shores. "Their strategy is that they are doing this in Singapore, and not in Bengaluru," he said, while adding that he was aware who was behind this.

The deputy CM did not share further information or disclose names of political leaders behind the alleged plot. Political analysts, however, said Shivakumar was targeting the JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy, who is currently on a foreign trip. Some sources claimed he was in Europe while the Congress sources believe he was in Singapore.
