Bengaluru: The ruling Congress has filed a complaint with the Bengaluru cyber police seeking action against the BJP leaders for posting what it called "defamatory messages" on the party's social media handle X. The police are verifying the complaints before taking further action on it.

The post allegedly referred to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar and other ministers as scam lords and alleged that they were involved in looting the state. The post carried the images of CM, Dy CM and other ministers.

In its complaint, the Congress party's legal cell said the BJP's social media handle shared a poster featuring the CM and other ministers, and said it was not a story of scams but a story of scamsters.

The complaint said the BJP used terms such as "loot" and "scam" to malign the reputation of the elected leaders. The post amounted to character assassination and was of a nature that would create social unrest, and sought stern action against the BJP leaders.
