Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah moves resolution in Assembly demanding repeal of VB-G RAM G law
Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has introduced a resolution in the State Assembly demanding the repeal of the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act. The resolution urges the Centre to reinstate the Mahatma Ga...

The three-page resolution attacks the Centre for “snatching away the powers of the gram panchayats” in deciding the choice of work to be taken up the rural jobs law.
The resolution also urged the Centre to restore the MNREGA and implement it in its original form. The government would send the resolution to the President once the assembly accepts the resolution, the CM said.
The Congress had on January 10 launched a 46-day country-wide agitation pressing for the restoration of the UPA law.
AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge earlier said the new law would impose an additional burden of 30% more funding on the states to implement the rural jobs programme, an increase from 10% earlier, he said, suggesting that state governments would find it hard to bear 40% of the programme’s budget.
