BENGALURU: The BJP is playing out a tit for tat scenario on diary politics. A month after Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi accused PM Modi of taking payments from the Sahara-Birla group, based on diary entries, BJP's Karnataka president BS Yeddyurappa on Friday accused state chief minister Siddaramaiah of giving Rs 1,000 crore slush money to the Congress High Command.

Yeddyurappa has also based his allegation on a diary that he claims the enforcement directorate is examining, following income-tax raids on the properties of Congress MLC K Govindaraju last March. Govindaraju is a known aide of Siddaramaiah.

“The ED is examining the entry that shows that Siddaramaiah paid Rs 1,000 crore to the party fund through Govindaraju. Let Siddaramaiah speak the truth. Hasn't he paid the Delhi leaders to save his chair,?“ Yeddyurappa said in Bagalkote district of Karnataka. He said he had documents to prove his claim. He, however, did not clarify what these additional documents are.

“These are irresponsible statements. Let him prove it or let him retire from politics,“ a furious Siddaramaiah later responded.
