Bengaluru: The Opposition BJP on Sunday announced it will lay siege to Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on Monday to press for the resignation of Planning Minister B. Nagendra over an ED money-laundering case arising from the diversion of ST welfare fund from the Maharshi Valmiki ST Development Corporation.

Opposition leader R. Ashoka told the media that party workers will take out a procession from Freedom Park to Vidhana Soudha in the morning. Senior leaders, including state president BY Vijayendra, will participate, he added.

The BJP has blocked the ongoing Assembly proceedings, demanding the minister’s resignation.

Nagendra, the Ballari Rural MLA, resigned as the Scheduled Tribes Welfare Minister in 2024 after allegations emerged that funds meant for the corporation had been diverted. He was re-inducted into the Cabinet in the recent expansion, drawing a fresh wave of attack from the BJP.

Ashoka alleged that the diverted funds from the corporation were used in the Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka and Telangana.
