Karnataka: BJP, JD(S) MLAs to meet Governor

Mounting pressure to be allowed to form the government in Karnataka, the BJP-JD(S) combine has decided to present individual letters of support by 122 MLAs to Governor Rameshwar Thakur on Monday.

ANGALORE: Mounting pressure to be allowed to form the government in Karnataka, the BJP-JD(S) combine has decided to present individual letters of support by 122 MLAs to Governor Rameshwar Thakur on Monday.

"All the 122 legislators -- 79 from BJP and 43 from JD(S) -- will be present physically before the Governor and hand over their letters of support," JDS spokesman Y S V Datta said here.

Sources in BJP said it had secured sworn-affidavit from its 79 MLAs pledging support to the BJP-JD(S) coalition government.

Datta said JD(S) MLAs in their letter of support have also undertaken to abide by the party decision to support the BJP-led coalition.

Former Deputy Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa had on Friday staked claim to form government after JD(S) extended support to the saffron party-led government.
