Karnal Singh gets additional charge of ED Director
NEW DELHI: IPS officer Karnal Singh was on Wednesday given additional charge of Enforcement Directorate, replacing heavy industries secretary Rajan Katoch, who was holding additional charge of ED. The development comes soon after BJP leader Subramanian Swamy filed a complaint with the Prime Minister’s Office on the closure of Fema proceedings in the National Herald case involving Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her deputy Rahul Gandhi.

Katoch was recently given an extension of 3 months for holding additional charge of ED. As per the new order, Katoch will remain secretary heavy industries. Karnal Singh, who was the special director at the agency, has now been given additional charge. A UT cadre officer, Singh had earlier handled important assignments including the chief of elite special cell of the Delhi Police.

Katoch was given additional charge of ED in August 2014, after he was promoted and appointed heavy industries secretary.
