As per the notification the nomination process will be held from September 9-16, the nominations will be scrutinised on September 18 and the last date for the withdrawal of nominations will be September 20. The counting of votes will be done on October 8.
The notification was issued on Thursday night following a Supreme Court order directing the administration to issue fresh notification for the LAHDC elections in Kargil which were scheduled on September 10.
The court also restored the party symbol 'plough' to the National Conference as the Ladakh administration had refused to allot the symbol to party's candidates for the LAHDC elections in Kargil.
"The Model Code of Conduct shall come into force from the date of publication of this notification... and shall remain in force till the election process is completed," said the notification.
Former J&K chief minister and NC leader Omar Abdullah blamed the administration in Ladakh for a biased agenda. "The SC verdict has been absolutely scathing against the conduct of the Ladakh administration. We are pleased that the order was issued and we look forward to receiving the support of people in Kargil in the upcoming elections," said Abdullah.
