KarbiAnglong & North Cachar Hills critical ahead of LS polls

The hill districts of KarbiAnglong and North Cachar hills are now plunged into a full blown law and order crisis in the run up to parliamentary polls.

GUWAHATI: The hill districts of KarbiAnglong and North Cachar hills are now plunged into a full blown law and order crisis in the run up to parliamentary polls. On Monday, another bomb explosion took place in the remote Dolamara area of KarbiAnglong district. No one was injured in the explosion.

The hill districts, which are going to polls on April 16, have witnessed a series of explosions and attacks on security forces including an election observer. On Sunday night, Upper Assam bound Kamrup express had a miraculous escape when a bomb exploded on a railway track. There was crossing firing between the militants and the police in KarbiAnglong district.

The blast, which took place between Nilolung and Diphu, has damaged a portion of the track.

Police suspect the hand of Karbi Longri National Liberation Front (KLNLF) militants behind the blast. KLNLF has called a 48-hour bandh in KarbiAnglong with effect from 5 am of April 15.
