The election for the Karanpur seat was postponed after the death of Congress candidate and former MLA Gurmeet Singh Koonar. In the bypoll held on January 5, Congress fielded his son Rupinder Singh while BJP fielded Surendra Pal Singh again.

"The people of Sri Karanpur have defeated the pride of BJP. The public has taught a lesson to BJP," former Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot posted on X.
