Karan Singh re-nominated as Auroville Foundation chairman

Earlier in 2012, Singh had been nominated as chairman of the Auroville Foundation during the term of the previous UPA government.

NEW DELHI: Congress MP Karan Singh has been re-nominated by the HRD ministry as the chairman of the Auroville Foundation for a term of four years.

According to sources, the ministry has issued a notification as per which Singh has been nominated as the chairman of the governing board of the prestigious foundation as per the Auroville Foundation Act, 1988.

He would function as the chairman of the Board in an honorary capacity.

Earlier in 2012, Singh had been nominated as chairman of the Auroville Foundation during the term of the previous UPA government.

"Singh is a Congress MP in Rajya Sabha. However, the decision has been taken on merit," a source said.

Two Joint Secretary rank officials have also been nominated to the Board as ex-officio members by the HRD ministry.
