Kanhaiya Kumar moves bail plea in Supreme Court
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court will hear on Friday a plea by JNU student leader Kanhaiya Kumar to release him from custody. He was arrested under charges of sedition over anti-India slogans raised during a debate last week.

Through lawyers Prashant Bhushan and Vrinda Grover, Kumar moved an Article 32 petition challenging the infringement of his Fundamental Right to life and liberty and sought release on that ground.

Kumar was manhandled when he was being taken to a lower court where his case had come up on Wednesday. He has told the top court that he cannot get justice in such a hostile environment.

A bench comprising Justice Jasti Chelameswar and Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre will hear the plea on Friday.
