Kalyana Sundaram appointed as Animal Welfare Board Secretary

The Chennai-headquartered, AWBI is a statutory advisory body on Animal Welfare Laws and promotes animal welfare.

CHENNAI: C Kalyana Sundaram has been appointed as Secretary of Animal Welfare Board of India by the Union government for a period of three years.

Prior taking up the new role, Sundaram, an alumni of the University of Madras, held various responsibilities at the Lok Sabha Secretariat, the Commerce and Industries Ministry and All India Radio, Puducherry, a PIB release said.

The Chennai-headquartered, AWBI is a statutory advisory body on Animal Welfare Laws set up by the Union Government and promotes animal welfare in the country.

The Board comprises 28 members, each of whose term is for a period of three years, AWBI said in its website.
