Union minister MK Alagiri declared at a public function in Madurai on Sunday that his father would become the chief minister for the seventh time.

MADURAI: Union minister MK Alagiri declared at a public function in Madurai on Sunday that his father would become the chief minister for the seventh time. "Kalaignar (M Karunanidhi) will be elected chief minister not
only for the sixth time, but even for a seventh time," Alagiri said.

On Saturday, Karuna-nidhi hinted he would continue to take on administrative responsibilities if his the DMK-led alliance returned to power after the assembly elections.

Alagiri was speaking at a function organized to lay the foundation stone for buildings of Anna University of Technology and also to unveil the 302-bedded extension of the Government Rajaji Hospital in the temple city.
