Jyoti Basu's condition stable; pneumonia yet to be controlled

KOLKATA: The condition of Marxist patriarch Jyoti Basu, who is being treated for pneumonia at a hospital here, was today stable.

"Basu's condition is more or less stable and doctors are trying to check his pneumonic infection," 95-year-old Basu's personal physician A K Maity told PTI here.

Since Basu is too old, it would take some time to control the infection, he said.

The veteran leader was yesterday admitted to AMRI Hospital here with chest congestion and infection. A thorough examination had detected slight pneumonia.
