JVM(P) asks Jharkhand Governor to dissolve assembly

Marandi claimed BJP and JMM, which had fought 2009 election against each other led to the formation of a weak govt.

DUMKA, Jharkhand: Jharkhand Vikas Morcha(P) chief Babulal Marandi today urged the Jharkhand Governor to dissolve the Assembly and recommend fresh electionsapprehending possibility of horse-trading after the Arjun Munda-led coalition government was reduced to a minority.

"80 to 90 per cent of the people strongly favour fresh elections," he told reporters.

Marandi claimed that the BJP and JMM, which had fought the 2009 election against each other led to the formation of a weak government.

Marandi, a former chief minister, alleged that all the governments formed in the state during the last three years were based on horse-trading.

He made it clear that his party would not support any political party or alliance to form a new government in the state.

A meeting of JVM(P) MLAs and senior party leaders would be held in Ranchi tomorrow after which a party delegation would meet the governor to demand fresh elections.
