JVM peeved with Congress for leaving it out of alliance

While announcing a tie-up among Congress-RJD-JDU, AICC General Secretary and party's in-charge for Jharkhand B K Hariprasad did not mention JVM.

RANCHI: The Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantric) today held a senior Congress leader from the state responsible for the party not being considered for Congress led alliance to contest the Jharkhand assembly polls.

While announcing a tie-up among Congress-RJD-JDU, AICC General Secretary and party's in-charge for Jharkhand B K Hariprasad did not mention JVM.

"Yesterday, we attended a meeting in Delhi where Congress and RJD leaders were also present. Our party's alliance with them was almost finalised when a Congress leader from Jharkhand created a wedge," JVM's General Secretary Praveen Singh told a press conference here.

JVM's Principal General Secretary and MLA Pradip Yadav was also present in the meeting, he added.

"We told the Congress leaders that we are going, and if you like to have an alliance you can intimate us through SMS or any other mode," Singh said.

He alleged that a national party was behind planting the Congress leader to stall Congress from allying with JVM.

Singh said the JVM is going to announce the first list of candidates on November 2.

Both Congress and JVM had a pre-poll alliance in 2009 assembly elections with the former getting 14 seats and JVM winning in 11 seats.

JVM president and former chief minister Babulal Marandi had snapped ties with the Congress later, accusing it of being responsible in the underdevelopment of the state.
