The senior-most judge of the High Court, Justice Pradeep K Mohanty, is currently officiating as the acting CJ of Orissa High Court.

CUTTACK: Justice Amitava Roy will be the new Chief Justice of Orissa High Court.

A Presidential warrant of appointment of Justice Roy reached here today.

Sources said Justice Roy, who is now the Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court, would assume charge of his new assignment here in the first week of August.

The post of Orissa Chief Justice was lying vacant ever since Justice A K Goel left here in the first week of this month after being elevated to the Supreme Court.

The senior-most judge of the High Court, Justice Pradeep K Mohanty, is currently officiating as the acting CJ of Orissa High Court.

Born on March 1, 1953 at Dibrugarh in Assam, Justice Roy was elevated to the bench of Gauhati High Court as a judge in February 2002 and was appointed as the Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court in January 2013.
